Noah Arrives
In Genesis 5:29, we are given this very curious pronouncement from Noah’s father, Lamech. He says that Noah “will comfort us in the labor and painful toil of our hands caused by the ground the Lord has cursed.” Since it is in the Bible, it was something that Lamech would need to say when Noah was born. In my narrative, Logan makes this pronouncement to Lamech as an encouragement to his friend as Lamech is recovering from the mental attack he suffered at the hands of Tubal-Cain. That interchange occurred way back in Chapter 3 of Book #3 (Atalànt).
Biblically speaking, I believe this is a follow-on from Genesis 3:15 when YHWH promises that the woman’s Seed will crush the head of the Serpent’s seed. Incidentally, I believe that when Eve says in Genesis 4:1 that when she speaks about her son Cain when he is born, she mistakenly thinks he is the Seed that YHWH has promised. In the Hebrew it literally reads” I have gotten a man–YHWH,” though modern translators try to help make sense of the text by adding “with the help of” before “the Lord.”
In any event, Noah was clearly signaled out for some pretty important work. Hopefully, the event of his birth in the sound of the many waters of the Tortured Mists brought that home to the reader!
