Ink-bottleChapter I

Double Whammy
Cover Image of Young Man on black horse running through the Tortured MistIn some chapters there are several hidden references to Biblical texts, historical insights, or double meanings. In Chapter 1, unfortunately, there is only one I can mention now without slipping in spoilers.  However, this hidden gem is one I am particularly proud of because it is a double whammy because there are two two hidden points to it.

One of Hepheaus’ attackers pauses long enough to say the following:

“You cannot contend against God Most High. Even now, Logan will have completed all the works, which God prepared in advance for him to do.”

First, this sentence is almost a direct quote from Ephesians 2:10, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (NIV)

Secondly, the sentence is written in the future perfect tense (“will have completed”), after which the series was named. I felt the name of the series should reflect a way of looking at what would happen in the entire story arc from the point of the view of the present. It seemed important to have Logan’s mysterious defender use that grammatical form when referring to Logan.
