John the Baptist & The Power & Spirit of Moses

In the New Testament, we get the sense that in some way, Elijah did return before the day of the Lord (Matthew 11:14 and Mathew 17:12), but in another way he did not (John 1:19-28). It seems that someone named John came in the Power and Spirit of Elijah. It seemed only right that in the story, someone would come in the Power and Spirit of Moses. After all, by their mission and abilities, the Witnesses in Revelation 11 seem to be people like Elijah and Moses. Elijah never died, so it makes sense that he is the one prophesied about. Moses, however, has already died. Yet, like John the Baptist, someone could take his mantel and function in his stead. Imagine what a responsibility that would be…
